NuCuraçao Windparken – NuCapital redeveloped the existing wind farms located at Playa Kanoa and Tera Kórá (Curaçao) after purchasing the Caribbean’s premier operating wind farm, Delta Windparken located at Playa Kanoa, The installed capacity was 9 MW and repowering of the earlier park was been completed with the commissioning of  15MW of installed capacity utilizing Vestas 3.0 MW V-90 turbines. In addition, NuCapital was the successful bidder to also repower the Caribbean’s oldest operating wind farm located at Tera Kórá, similarly replacing the existing 3 MW plant with 5 Vestas 3.0 MW V-90 turbines. The two new wind farms were formally commissioned in  in July, 2012. The total of 30 MWs of installed capacity provides approximately 20% of the island’s demand and strengthens Aqualectra’s continued long-term commitment to clean energy with wind-sourced goals of 30% by the year 2020 and 40% of generation capacity by the year 2030.

The Tera Kora wind farm will shortly be expanded with another 5 wind turbines being the Vestas V117 3.3 MW, bringing the total installed capacity to 31.5 MW.

NuCapital and its principals are the majority owners and developers of the 30 MW Vader Piet wind farm which has been operational since December 31, 2009. Vader Piet currently supplies approximately 18% of Aruba’s annual demand. The sole off-taker, the Water and Electricity Board of Aruba ("WEB Aruba"), has long been recognized as one of the premier utilities in the Caribbean; NuCapital was pleased to be chosen as the winning bidder in a competitive tender process launched in 2008. The deployment of the ten 3.0 MW Vestas V-90 turbines in Aruba and those deployed by NuCapital in neighboring Curaçao represents the largest operating turbines in the Caribbean and serves as the yardstick by which all other projects are measured. vader piet

The founding members of the Vader Piet wind farms are currently finalizing the development of a new wind farm located at Alto Vista on the northwest coast of Aruba pursuant to a Power Purchase Agreement signed in December, 2013 with off-taker, the Water and Electricity Board of Aruba ("WEB Aruba"). Once again, this will represent the largest wind turbines in the Caribbean, deploying 8 Vestas 3.3 V-112 turbines for an installed capacity of 26.5 MWs. Upon commissioning in December, 2015, Aruba will become the world leader is percentage of wind sourced energy, bypassing Denmark.

In conjunction with local partners, organized as Productores de Energía Renovables, S.A. (“PERSA”), NuCapital is the majority shareholder in the development of Parque Eólico Yayupe San Lucas, S.A (“PEYSSA”), a 99MW wind farm located in the El Paríaso approximately 40 km from the capital city of Tegucigalpa in Honduras. Upon commissioning, the project will supply 360 GWh of power into the national grid, delivered to national utility Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica and bring power to the nearby communities of San Lucas, Güinope, and Yauyupe.
